Publisher Devovler Digital and Broforce developer Free Lives have unveiled their next collaboration, with “reverse city-builder” Terra Nil scheduled for a PC release later in the year.

Jun 12, 2021 Award Winning Publisher Distributes Groundbreaking Press Release. Jun 08, 2021 Publisher Devovler Digital and Broforce developer Free Lives have unveiled their next collaboration, with “reverse city-builder” Terra Nil scheduled for a PC release later in the year.

The game tasks you with rebuilding a desolate wasteland, but rather than building up a city, instead you’ll be bringing life and greenery back to the world, including water systems, purifying the soil, growing fauna, restoring the wildlife and eventually recycling all the buildings and structures you used to get there to leave the world in a lush, verdant state.

The game promises multiple regions, each with their own “flavour and procedural generation palette” and the team promise that no two playthroughs will be the same. Hand drawn visuals “inspired by the work of Studio Ghibli” and a laid-back soundtrack complete the game’s mellow aesthetic which you can see for yourself in the trailer below.

Terra Nil doesn’t have a firm release date yet, but Devolver and Free Lives have confirmed it will be featured as part of the Steam Next Fest with a playable demo available on the platform on PC from June 16.
