I've also been able to use iCloud email in Entourage using settings suggested for Outlook 2011 at answers.microsoft.com. I tried to include a link in this reply, but it was apparently rejected as spam. I guess I'll find out if including 'microsoft.com' in the body of a reply has the same results.

Aug 15, 2015 Hi! Have imac 10.6.8 and iphone 6.1.1 Just installed iCloud and iMatch. Sounds great on iPhone. But there is No sound on my imac from any music at all. Sound is fine for everything els read more. I'm running Snow Leopard (MacOS X 10.6.8) on a MacBook Pro (4GB RAM, 2.53GHz Core 2) and for a variety of reasons CANNOT currently update to Mountain Lion. I've read multiple sources online saying I can sync my current version of iCal (4.0.4) with iCloud as follows. Unfortunately not for now, but there are some rumors they will release 10.6.9 with iCloud support once the.me will fade out ( I mean once it end - which is sometimes in the middle of 2012.) Comment. After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mavericks if your computer meets the requirements.

Snow Leopard to get iCloud support in 10.6.9 update? Apparently those of you who aren't upgrading to Cupertino's latest and greatest desktop OS will be able to sling bits through iCloud with the.

No luck for me.
Outgoing mail doesn't work. It tells me the iCloud SMTP server is offline. In fact, it's never worked for me under 10.6 and I've tried every possible SMTP server setting variation. Only incoming mail works.

10.6.8

Have you tried changing the password once on your Apple ID? Early adopters of iCloud had passwords incompatible with the iCloud SMTP server. Changing the password once, then waiting about 10 minutes, and there is a chance the SMTP server will be functional for you.

What I have had to do when setting up iCloud accounts on older Mail.app or all other mail clients is to NOT use SSL, regular old port 25, with your iCloud email address as the username, and (obviously) your password as the password.
Try that and see if it works for you. Non-encrypted SMTP is not cool, but is probably something most people can live with.

Works for me with Mac OS X 10.6.8. Thank you!

Still doesn't work for me (10.6.8). Neither incoming nor outgoing mail work. Oh well, I'm planning on upgrading my aging MacBook anyway with some Christmas money...

They seem to work!

What for p04-smtp.mail.me.com if smtp.mail.me.com works just fine?

Is my current mac.com address equivalent to a me.com address, or do I need to delete the mac.com account?

Is OSX 10.6/7 needed for anything other than to install iCloud?
If I install it with the newer versions of OSX can I then use it with, say, 10.4.11?

Yes, iCloud has presented some problems.
My primary email, which is a .mac account isn't a problem at all.
The problem is with my long established business alias account, also a .mac account.
Clients are unable to send me mail on that account. It just bounces back.
To date, Apple are unable to figure out the problem.
In fact none of my email was working. It turned out that their engineers had established a new password to troubleshoot the issue on their end.
I hope they can fix this. I have thousands of dollars of advertising out there with my inaccessible business email on.
This is the biggest screw up I have ever encountered with Apple.
Once again to date, (it's been over two weeks) no resolve.

Icloud 10.6.8 mac

A friend, running 10.6.8 was stuck with his old me.com account after upgrading it to iCloud.
He wasn't able to RECEIVE messages due to the wrong (and grey = un-editable) server for incoming mail... he could SEND mail alright, and of course do both through the iCloud.com webpage.
Creating a new account with the same address is refused by the Mail app.
So we backed all mail up (the 'users/**hisname**/library/mail/' folder), and deleted the old me.com account. Then we set it up again (really only entering the Apple ID and the password). The new account had exactly the same settings as before, but it works again... go figure...
All the mailboxes he had created to store various messages came back as well !

Thank you for this tip! It works like a charm also for me!

Icloud 10.6.8 Version

Hello All,
I am hoping someone out there can help resolve a problem I have regarding the use of iCloud Drive on my elderly Imac running OSX 10.6.8. I have been accessing my iCloud Drive via Finder quite happily for almost a year, but a few days ago the hard drive went pop and I had to have a new drive and OSX installed. Since then I cannot find a way of getting iCould Drive inserted into the finder's Sidebar. I know that 10.6.8 is not supposed to be compatible, but as I was able to get it working last time (I can't remember but presumably after finding a solution on the web) I cannot understand why, after hours of searching this time, I can find no information at all on how to do it.
Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.
