About SWLS
Additionally, a specific section focused on body satisfaction, examining their satisfaction on a scale from 1 to 7, with lower scores relating to higher levels of body dissatisfaction. In this section, one of the questions examined the steps each young person would take to attain a body type that corresponded to the ideal.
The SWLS is a short 5-item instrument designed to measure global cognitive judgments of satisfaction with one's life. The scale usually requires only about one minute of a respondent's time.
In order to better understand the scores of the SWLS, please read the document below.
- Subsequently, one of the most popular multi-dimensional scale measures of body esteem is the Body Esteem Scale. The BES lists 35 body parts and functions that are rated on a 5-point Likert-type scale. Based on exploratory factor analysis of the BES, Franzoi and Shields determined that body esteem factors are different for males and females.
- The Body-Esteem Scale (Franzoi & Shields, 1984) Instructions: On this page are listed a number of body parts and functions. Please read each item and indicate how you feel about this part or function of your own body using the following scale: 1 = Have strong negative feelings 2 = Have moderate negative feelings.
- The Satisfaction with Life Scale By Ed Diener, Ph.D. DIRECTIONS: Below are five statements with which you may agree or disagree.
