P-touch Editor is software that is bundled with all Brother Label Printers. The software provides the user with a labeling program that allows them to create customized labels for addresses, tags, optical discs, folders and a wide range of other labels. There are four applications that get installed with the software: the P-touch Editor, P.
- P-touch Editor for Mac is a free app for Brother label and mobile printers. It allows you to design and print custom labels using built-in drawing tools to create various font and text styles, import images, and insert barcodes. Compatible models (P-touch Editor Ver.5.3.6) QL-800, QL-810W, QL-8.
- Under Editor Tool, click P-Touch Editor 5.x link (Windows). For Mac OS users click the link to download from app store. Read the End-User License Agreement then click Agree to the EULA and Download. Enter the last 9 characters of the Serial Number - can be found in the rear of the machine - and then click Submit button.
- Import a database - P-touch Editor 5.x - Windows. Create a new label. On the Paper menu, select the installed Media size and adjust any other settings needed. Click here for video instructions. Connect to the database. Click File → Database → Connect.
- To enter subscripts, proceed in the same way as above, but reverse the CODE + P DOWN and CODE + P UP keys. Each pair of keys (CODE + P DOWN and CODE + P UP) cancels the other, and the two pairs must always be used in combination. If you try to press one of the pairs more than once, the word processor beeps.

Images and photos located in a local folder may be imported to the creation window so these can be incorporated into the design. Printing options meanwhile, allows the user to print a single label or multiple labels.
To organize the labels that the user has created, the program provides the P-touch Library tool. Users can store their labels in the library, categorize according to their preference. The Add-in feature allows the user to import data from Microsoft applications, so information can be immediately integrated into the labels.
